Climbio Adds New Gyms, Areas and Features

In case you haven’t heard, ClimbIO is the new home-grown online app that lets climbers easily keep track of and share their ticks as well as check videos and pictures of routes.

Since we last checked in December, ClimbIO has grown exponentially, adding 6 new climbing areas, and a host of new features.

New Gyms

NewGyms

Climbio now supports Xinyi Bouldering Gym, iClimb in Hsinchu, Neihu Sports Center’s Outdoor wall, as well as Neihu Sports Park’s Bouldering area and Hualien’s Feihsuan bouldering center

GymTopo

Each gym and area now has a topo style illustration with distinct areas. Clicking on an area filters the climbs to that section.

Outdoor Areas

ClimbIO Outdoors

Climbio has now extended to the great outdoors with support for newly developed Xiaowulai as well as Central Taiwan’s classic limestone crag Guanziling.

Xiaowulai’s page includes a clickable area map, while  at the moment Guanziling’s is a bit more sparse, but still quite useful.

Routesetting

The routesetting tool has been updated and improved greatly.

New Route

Once you click on the (+) Share New Route button, you’re able to either select an official topo photo or upload your own topo photo to work with.

The routesetting interface is simple yet sophisticated.stone edit

You can mark holds with either a circle of adjustable size, or a polygon(shown in the picture) useful for outlining macros and other irregular shapes. Each hold can be distinguished as a start hold, regular hold with two different color options to deal with varying background colors, or a finish hold. There’s even an undo button in case you make a mistake.

As programmers ourselves we can see a lot of thought and work went into this and it’s paid off because setting with this tool is a dream.

In short, Climbio has been updated yet again. It’s better, supports more areas, and is undeniably even more awesome than before.
