New Bouldering Gym Opening + Competition!

It’s official — Climb Alpine, the company that brought you Xinyi Bouldering gym, is opening Civic Bouldering Gym in Taipei, early April!

The location will be 5 minutes walking from Nangang Exhibition Hall station, the space looks pretty big  – between Xinyi and STONE in size, and they’ll be using HRT holds, the same holds used in international climbing competitions, so we’re pretty psyched!

They’re starting things off with a competition:

This Sunday over 140 climbers registered to compete in the 19th Birds Egg Cup Bouldering Competition at newly opened STONE. The record breaking turn out included climbers from all over Taiwan and even a handful of foreigners.

Some of the competitors from the Yam competition returned but mostly it was a different crowd and final results were completely different, including a top showing by Lin Hsiu-Ru in Womens Open. Hung Ying Lee chose to compete with the men and placed 2nd in Men’s Open! Dark Horse competitor Remi from France showed up with borrowed shoes and managed to place third in the Mens amateur division.
